Len Fishman, Chief Executive Officer
Len Fishman, CEO of Hebrew SeniorLife since 2000, is credited with transforming the century-old, faith-based organization founded to serve the frail, indigent Jewish elderly of Boston into a trailblazing, integrated health-care and housing delivery system, open to people of all religions, socioeconomic backgrounds, and cultures. He has broad experience in the fields of health-care and senior services. He served in the cabinet of New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman as commissioner of Health and Senior Services and was president of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA), the 6,000-member national organization of nonprofit long-term care and senior housing providers.

Louis J. Woolf, President
Louis J. Woolf was named president of Hebrew SeniorLife in October 2009. He oversees all HLS operations, including Hebrew Rehabilitation Center, the Institute for Aging Research, and Hebrew SeniorLife's senior housing communities. Prior to joining HSL, he was executive vice president and chief operating officer at Partners Healthcare System's North Shore Medical Center, a multi-site, integrated health-care delivery system north of Boston. He previously spent 10 years in leadership at the CareGroup Healthcare System, where he held key positions, including executive vice president and COO of New England Baptist Hospital and senior vice president of system development and communications for all of CareGroup's hospitals.

Stephen J. Braverman, Senior Vice President, Development and Community Relations
Stephen J. Braverman is senior vice president of development and community relations for Hebrew SeniorLife. He oversees the Development Department, which is responsible for cultivating philanthropic support of the organization and its programs. Mr. Braverman, with more than 40 years of experience managing comprehensive development programs at major institutions, is recognized nationally as a fundraising leader. |

Alessandra Quagliata deVaca, Chief Administrative Officer
Alessandra de Vaca is chief administrative officer of Hebrew SeniorLife. She oversees HSL's shared services, which include the Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing and Communications, Occupational Health, and Professional Development departments. Since joining HSL in 2002, she has helped implement many of the organization's new undertakings, including a variety of multi-year projects in preparation for the opening of HSL's new campus, NewBridge on the Charles. As the organization has grown and evolved, Ms. de Vaca has also spearheaded efforts to bring in new talent and to develop HSL's already present human talent. She came to HSL with nearly 20 years of human resources experience in a variety of environments, including several in the health-care industry.

Marjorie Glincher, Executive Director, Simon C. Fireman Community
As executive director of Simon C. Fireman Community in Randolph, Marjorie Glincher is responsible for the overall management and administration of this subsidized community for seniors 62 years of age and older. Ms. Glincher is a general practice attorney and has been involved in local community and charitable organizations. She graduated from Tufts University in 1981 with a bachelor's degree in sociology and from Boston University School of Law in 1984.

Louise G. Griffin, Vice President, Research Administration
Louise G. Griffin is vice president of research administration at Hebrew SeniorLife. She is responsible for the comprehensive management, promotion and administration of HSL's world-renowned Institute for Aging Research, the largest gerontological research facility located in an applied setting. Prior to joining HSL, Ms. Griffin served as interim vice chancellor for administration and finance at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. For nine years, she was director of external funding and technology transfer at the university, managing the day-to-day operations of the Office of Research Administration, including proposal management, electronic research administration, budget development, compliance monitoring, and post-award oversight. She is a graduate of UMass Lowell and New Hampshire College, where she earned her M.B.A.

James D. Hart, Chief Financial Officer
James D. Hart was named chief financial officer of Hebrew SeniorLife in November 2009 and brings more than 28 years of financial experience to the organization. He directs HSL's strategic and operational financial planning, budgeting process, tracking and reporting of financial results, accounting and finance practices, and financial risk assessment, and maintains relations with financial institutions. Most recently, he served as CFO of Benchmark Assisted Living, which operates 44 assisted living facilities throughout New England. He has also held senior financial positions with Interfid Ltd., Bitstream, Inc., Boston Financial Group, and Engima, Inc. He began his career at Continental Bank in New York.

Fran Hinckley, Chief Information Officer
Fran Hinckley leads Hebrew SeniorLife's Information Technology Department, providing shared IT planning, services and support for all systems and technology needs across HSL's eight-site network. A graduate of the University of Maine, Mr. Hinckley has more than 27 years of experience in the field of information technology planning and management. He has served in prior CIO roles at Mariner Health Care, Mariner Post Acute, and Capella Senior Living, all senior health-care organizations. Most recently, he was CIO at Neighborhood Health Plan, a Boston-based health maintenance organization serving commercial accounts and MassHealth members. Mr. Hinckley has been with HSL since 2004.

Katherine Howard, Vice President, Finance, Hebrew Rehabilitation Center
Katherine Howard is vice president of finance at Hebrew Rehabilitation Center. She manages the Fiscal Services Department, providing billing, accounting, and financial managing and reporting services for both HSL and Hebrew Rehabilitation Center. Ms. Howard has been with HSL for 10 years and has more than 30 years of health-care experience, including financial management at Massachusetts General Hospital and Partners Healthcare System and health-care policy research at Abt Associates. She holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics from McGill University and earned her M.B.A., with a concentration in health-care management, at Boston University.

Paul Hollings, Executive Director, Orchard Cove
As executive director of Orchard Cove, Paul Hollings oversees the administration and operations of this continuing care retirement community in Canton. He came to Orchard Cove from Newbury Court, a CCRC in Concord. He was previously executive director of Neville Center on Fresh Pond, a nursing and rehabilitation center in Cambridge, and was also director of public policy with the Massachusetts Aging Services Association. Mr. Hollings currently serves as treasurer and on the board of directors of the Massachusetts Aging Services Association.

Judy Iwanski, Vice President of Policy and Government Affairs
Judy Iwanski is vice president of policy and government affairs at Hebrew SeniorLife. As such, she serves as the primary liaison to CEO Len Fishman, working with him and other officials on local, regional and national policy issues. She previously served as vice president for government relations. An attorney by training, Ms. Iwanski came to HSL from the American Cancer Society, where she was director of government relations and advocacy. She also served in government relations and public affairs positions for a multi-state energy company, practiced law with two Boston law firms, and was associate general counsel for the Massachusetts Electric & Gas Association.

Dorothy Kelly Gay, Vice President, Government Relations
Dorothy Kelly Gay is vice president of government relations at Hebrew SeniorLife. She is reponsible for assisting HSL with legislative affairs and public policy at the local, state and federal levels. Ms. Kelly Gay represents the organization in the community on legislative and other policy issues and by advocating for senior health-care policies. A former mayor of Somerville, Ms. Kelly Gay has served as director of senior supportive housing for HSL from 2003 to the present. In addition to her career as a public servant, she has been a full-time registered nurse and health-care administrator for decades. She is the former administrative coordinator of nursing at Hebrew Rehabilitation Center, a position she held for 17 years until she was elected mayor.

Patricia Leddy, Executive Vice President, Hebrew Rehabilitation Center
Patricia Leddy oversees the health-care operations of Hebrew Rehabilitation Center in Roslindale and the Gloria Adelson Field Health Center at NewBridge on the Charles in Dedham. Prior to joining HSL, Ms. Leddy, a licensed nursing home administrator and registered nurse, was executive vice president of Bon Secours New York Health System, including a 364-bed skilled nursing facility, a long-term home health-care program, and a 176-apartment senior housing site. She also served as associate executive director of the Hebrew Home for Aged at Riverdale (N.Y.) and in various positions with other health-care organizations.

Lewis Lipsitz, M.D. Vice President, Academic Medicine Co-Director, Institute for Aging Research
Lewis Lipsitz, M.D., has spent most of his career in geriatric medicine at Hebrew SeniorLife, where he currently serves as vice president for academic medicine and director of the Institute for Aging Research. He holds the Irving and Edyth S. Usen and Family Chair in Medical Research. In addition to his positions at HSL, he is a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and chief of the Division of Gerontology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
Dr. Lipsitz's research interests include falls, fainting, blood pressure regulation, cognitive dysfunction, and improving long-term care for disabled seniors. He has published more than 160 original research papers, numerous review articles and textbook chapters, and co-edited "Quality Care in the Nursing Home" and "Geriatric Diabetes." He was designated one the "top doctors in Boston" by Boston Magazine in 2009.
A graduate of Franklin and Marshall College, Dr. Lipsitz earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He also holds a master's degree from Harvard University. He completed his residency internal medicine and a fellowship in geriatrics at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Patricia O'Brien, Executive Director, Home Health Care Continuum
As executive director of Home Health Care Continuum, Patricia O'Brien manages the day-to-day operation of HSL's growing home health-care agency. Prior to joining HSL, she was a consultant with Simione Consultants and held senior management positions with Cura VNA & Cranberry Hospice, the American Health Care Association, and VNA Care Network. A graduate of the Syracuse University College of Nursing, Ms. O'Brien received a master's degree in community health nursing with a specialty in home health care from the Boston University School of Nursing and an M.B.A. from Northeastern University.

Rabbi Sara Paasche-Orlow, Director, Religious and Chaplaincy Services
Sara Paasche-Orlow is the director of religious and chaplaincy services at Hebrew SeniorLife. In this position, she established the nation's only Jewish geriatric clinical pastoral education (CPE) program accredited by ACPE, Inc., and has placed chaplains and CPE students throughout the HSL system. Rabbi Sara was ordained in the Conservative Movement at the Jewish Theological Seminary and has focused her work on serving Jews of all backgrounds and denominations.

Stephen M. Post, Executive Director, Jack Satter House
Stephen M. Post is executive director of Jack Satter House, a 266-unit, HUD-subsidized senior supportive housing facility located on Revere Beach in Revere, Mass. As executive director, Mr. Post is responsible for the management of Jack Satter House, which includes overseeing administrative, maintenance and food service operations, coordination with HUD and MassHousing, and working with more than 300 residents to coordinate activities, events and services. He has a diverse background, with more than 25 years of experience in real estate, affordable housing, property tax assessment, city planning, and community and economic development. He twice served as executive director of the Office of Housing and Community Development for the City of Somerville, working on preservation and expansion of the city's affordable housing stock and economic and commercial revitalization.

Robert Schreiber, M.D., Physician-in-Chief
As physician-in-chief, Robert Schreiber, M.D., is responsible for the strategic vision for the Department of Medicine, including excellence in clinical care, academic teaching, and applied research. He is also involved in promoting new initiatives, including new models of care at HSL's long-term care facilities, continuing care retirement communities, and senior housing sites. Prior to joining HSL, Dr. Schreiber served as chairman of geriatrics at Lahey Clinic and held leadership positions at several Boston area long-term care facilities. He is board certified in internal medicine and geriatrics and an instructor in medicine at Harvard Medical School.

Marsha Katz Slotnick, Director, Capital Campaign
Marsha Katz Slotnick directs Hebrew SeniorLife's more than ever capital campaign, the largest, most comprehensive in the organization's history. Prior to joining HSL, she was director of development and capital campaign at Hebrew College, where she led a successful $30 million campaign to develop a new college campus. She previously served as development director for the New England region of the Jewish Theological Seminary. A member of the National Association of Fundraising Executives, she holds degrees from New York University, Hebrew College, and Wellesley College.

Cara Spalla, Vice President, Housing and Hospitality Services
As vice president of housing and hospitality services, Cara Spalla oversees the management and operation of NewBridge on the Charles housing and campus services, Center Communities of Brookline, Jack Satter House, Simon C. Fireman Community, and Orchard Cove. She has more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Most recently, she held managing director and general manager positions with Hilton Hotels Corporation in Boston, including HOTEL@MIT, Hilton Boston Logan Airport, and the Doubletree Club Hotel. She also managed the Park Plaza Hotel in Boston and The Drake Hotel in Chicago. She is a graduate of Western Illinois University.

Mindy Spitz, Vice President, Finance
As vice president of finance, Mindy Spitz is responsible for structuring and negotiating the finances for all of Hebrew SeniorLife's facilities. She brings more than 25 years of experience to her position, including finance management, business and financial planning, tax planning and financial reporting, banking, and accounting systems development and management. She has a particular expertise in real estate finance, having served as chief financial officer for Carpenter and Company, National Development of New England, and MB Associates, all of which are major real estate development firms. She is a certified public accountant and a graduate of Bentley College.

Ruth Stark, Director of Marketing, NewBridge on the Charles
Ruth Stark is director of marketing for NewBridge on the Charles. In this role, she oversees the marketing of independent living units at NewBridge and is responsible for all NewBridge marketing activities, member stewardship, community building, and outreach to the Dedham community. She has been with HSL for 15 years, having previously served as director of corporate communications. She has been involved in health-care marketing and communications for her entire career. Prior to joining HSL, she served as director of marketing and public relations at MetroWest Medical Center. She holds a master's degree in public health from Boston University.

Arnold Weiner, Director of Finance, Orchard Cove
Arnold Weiner is director of finance at Orchard Cove. As such, he is the onsite financial manager for HSL's continuing care retirement community in Canton. Mr. Weiner, who has been at HSL since 1996, has more than 30 years of experience in health-care financial management, including long-term care, specialty hospitals (including rehabilitation and psychiatric hospitals), acute care facilities, and home health agencies. He previously served as chief financial officer of Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. Mr. Weiner earned his M.B.A. at Suffolk University.

Rachel Joslin Whitehouse, Vice President, Marketing and Communications
Rachel Joslin Whitehouse is vice president of marketing and communications at Hebrew SeniorLife. She is responsible for overall brand management and the marketing of HSL's senior care services and housing communities, as well as its Institute for Aging Research. She also manages the organization's internal and external communications initiatives. Prior to joining HSL, she was vice president for communications and public relations at Joslin Diabetes Center. She was an executive vice president at Brodeur Worldwide, an international communications consulting firm, and served as director of client service and business development for Brodeur's European operation. She received her bachelor's degree in journalism and public relations from Northeastern University.
